My grown-up Christmas list.

We are only 10 days away from the first official day of Christmas shopping! Wowee, wow wow! Can you believe it? I love Christmas shopping. I love everything about it. I love finding the perfect present, getting a great deal, going out to lunch with my Mom, checking names off my list… All. Of. It!

Do you know what I don’t like though? Making my Christmas list. I hate it. I’m sure there are lots of things I want, but there is truly nothing that I need. I also don’t like having a list because it seems like I never get the one thing that I wanted and I end up being disappointed. That sounds immature, but it’s true.

Remember on my 30 things I’ve learned in 30 years post, I said “Being the middle child almost never has it’s advantages.” Here is an example of one thing that happened to me when I was maybe 10 years old:

I wanted this microphone for Christmas. It was on a stand and at the bottom it had pedals that you could push with your feet and lights would flash around you. It was pretty damn cool. That same Christmas my (younger) brother wanted an electric guitar. Not a real one, just a kids one for $50 or something like that. On Christmas morning my brother got the guitar and he got the freakin’ microphone! I thought Santa had possibly made a mistake, but my Mom said No, Santa thought the microphone would go really well with the guitar! WTF? Santa turned out to be a total loser that year.

Oh, was I mad! What made it even worse was that my cousin, Hillary, and I would always always always snoop for our gifts ahead of time. So, I knew weeks before Christmas that that microphone was in my house, and I already pictured myself rockin’ out to Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” while wearing stretch pants, leg warmers, and a giant sweater. It was going to be totally sweet.

So, can you understand my disappointment with Christmas lists?

I do have a couple things on my list right now, such as this:

LeftFrontTpDn2

and these:

cambra

or possibly a trip to someplace like this:

beach%20life

or maybe one of these:

See, I told you there were lots of things I want. I think there’s 100% chance of Santa telling me those gifts aren’t in his (or anyone’s) budget this year. So, seriously, please help me! What is on your list this year?

I absolutely love toe socks so I always ask for those since I usually have a hole in two or more pairs by then. I'm sorry Christmas listing isn't the greatest for you. I understand though. I asked for a computer one year and got a brother word processor...not the same. It's practically a type-writer. Then I got a walkman without a tape player on it, just a radio...I was bummed...and I was sort of an only (older brothers already out of the house).

Your stories make me smile :) I'm a middle child also..so I know the feeling! I'm asking Santa this year for..an ipod or mp3 player, fuzzy socks, a new coat, and the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred DVD!

A: I totally see you in that outfit
B: I LOVE all the things about Christmas shopping that you do.
C: I also struggle to make a Christmas list. Try this site: yourchristmaslist.com. You can upload pictures, URL links, descriptions, and prices of items you want. You can rank them and then give everyone a link to your list. Then you can never be disappointed :)

Ummm, did I tell you that when I was snooping for my birthday present this year I couldn't find it anywhere?!? Apparently I do not know the ins and outs of our new house yet. D.B. wouldn't give away his top secret location afterward either, rude!

I'm working on a list myself, I'll let you know what I come up with!

I also hate making Christmas lists. I really don't need anything and the things that I want well whoever would probably buy the wrong thing so....my husband and I don't buy each other anything at Christmas. If we find some item we want before Christmas we just buy it and say it is our Christmas gift. I also now draw names with my kids so I only have to come up with a couple of items for them.
By the way I also could see you back in the day with that outfit on.

I LOVE Christmas shopping too. This might sound weird but I like the chaos of it all. I also love that red convertible!

Hehehehe...your stories crack me the hell up.

I too HATE making a Christmas list. I would much rather just go shopping with people and pick stuff out. Like you the things I want are much to expensive for anybody to get me.

For Christmas this year I love your island idea. I would about give anything to go someplace warm and sunny right now.

Lets see what do I want...
I've been sitting here for a few minutes trying to think of something. I got nothing.

My Christmas shopping is just about done. I only have 2 more people on my list left to get something for.

All great Christmas ideas..but I think we are going to need a much larger tree to fit any of those things under it.

LOL! I love your stories...cracks me up. Funny, I was just talking to friend yesterday and she said her husband types up a list a few months before Christmas and gives it to her. Wow!

That just totally made me want to cry!! How awful!

And yeah, my Christmas list looks like that too. I know it won't happen so I am just asking for jammies, underwear, a pair of slippers and some gift cards. How lame.

UMMMM????

1. A new Coach Purse!
2. A Brown Leather Jacket! (mine is outdated)
3. A GMC Acadia:)
4. 1 KT Diamond Studs!

That seems COMPLETELY reasonable, to me!!!
Good luck with your list, I think you deserve it ALL:)
