My favorite things…

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,

bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens

brown paper packages tied up with strings,

these are a few of my favorite things.

Yeah, not really.  Ok, not even close.  Seriously, whiskers on kittens?  As my daughter would say, Who cares about that?  I’m sure this makes me a bad person, but I’ve never even seen that movie in it’s entirety.  (Gasp!)

I am going to tell you about a few of my favorite Christmas things though.  Let’s start with my favorite Christmas movie, I think it’s safe to say this is my husbands fave too.

Xmasvac

Last night as I was wrapping presents and trying to talk my kids out of giving their daycare teachers the peppermint bark so we could eat it Shawn announces “Hey, we haven’t watched Christmas Vacation yet, let’s watch it!”  I’m trying to remember if it was at the point where Clark envisions the model stripping in the pool or at the end when Clark goes off about his boss ending it with “Hallelujah Holy Shit!”, where we decided this probably wasn’t a children’s movie.  Yes, we let our kids watch it, real classy, huh?

Next, my favorite hand made Christmas gift this year is the ornaments I made for my girl’s classmates:

Aren’t they adorable?  So easy too!  So far, I’ve made 32 of these bad boys, and I might make a few more if I have time in between eating Oreo truffles and drinking Margaritas.

Speaking of Margaritas, or wait, we weren’t talking about Margaritas, were we?  Anyway, my favorite holiday drink is Orange-Vodka Slush, which is an old recipe of my Grandma’s.

I’m not sure why we only drink it at Christmas though, I might have to check into that.  Drinking it only at Christmas might be some sort of alcohol discrimination, and I would hate to discriminate against alcohol.

My favorite “warm” Holiday is beverage is hands down the Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks:

And, is it just me, or do all their drinks taste better in that red Christmas cup?  For real.

I would love to tell you about my favorite gift that I’ve bought my husband, but I’ll have to keep that a secret for now since he reads this blog.  So, how about my favorite gift that I’ve bought myself?

expressdress

Talk about Halleluiah Holy Shit!  This dress is dead sexy!  I spent 2 hours at the mall one afternoon looking for a dress, and when I saw this, I knew it was the one!  I bought it to wear to church on Christmas Eve, but it’s not too dressy, so I’ll be able to wear it all winter long.

Moving on to my favorite Holiday treat, Oreo Truffles, or Oreo Balls as some people call them.  Honestly, I just wanted to say balls.

I’m not going to say Halleluiah Holy Shit again, even though that’s how delicious these things are.  I’m going to make some with white chocolate coating, and some with dark chocolate.  Well, that’s if the Oreos even last long enough for me to make them.

Last, but not least (and probably not truly the last of my favorite Christmas things) is my favorite song this year.  I heard this song on XM Holly, and I’m not sure if it’s actually even a “Christmas” song, but it’s absolutely beautiful!

So, what are your Christmas favorites?  Please tell, I would hate to be missing out on something!

Loved it! I also enjoy the Peppermint Mocha!!! One of my faves! Baking is my Christmas fave - oreo "balls", sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies (with Andes mints instead of chocolate chips), peanut butter balls, and usually try a new recipe each year. I LOVE the Christmas music channel, all the Christmas lights, the smell of vanilla and the Christmas tree, buying the PERFECT gift that you are just excited to give than get - and getting presents that you didn't even know you wanted but it is perfect!

So I just tried white chocolate covered oreo balls for the first time ever last night. It is now an official favorite!

Other favorites include the pepp. mocha, and the best version of The Christmas Carol ever, The Muppet's version. And...this movie IS kid friendly!

First, LOVE that dress!!! Beautiful!

Also, every year for the past three years, I have watched classic Christmas movies with my in-laws. Why? Well, I have seen none of them and aparantly that makes my entire childhood a sham, so I've been forced to sit through "It's a wonderful life" (which was just "meh" to me) and "Miracle on 34th street" (which I liked). Tonight we're watching "A Christmas Carol." Blah!

My faves are Bad Santa, Christmas Vacation, and A Christmas Story!

Nothing says Merry Christmas like a drunk and cursing Billy Bob Thornton:)

We make that same Orange-Vodka Slush thing too. It's so so yummy!! And, it was a recipe of my Grandma's too.

I totally agree with you...Starbucks does taste way way better in the red cups! I wish they would just keep them year round. They make me kinda happy :)

Dress is damn adorable. You will look great in it.

Here let me say it for you, "Halleluiah Holy Shit" the Oreo balls are awesome. Yes, I just wanted to say balls too!! (but that really is what I call them!)
