Drama Queen?

The other day when I posted about Alivia’s tear-filled-drama-fest while we were lost, I’m sure most of you thought she had inherited that behavior from me. I assure you, that you are wrong. And I have proof. Picture this:

I am sitting at the YMCA this evening waiting for Shawn and the girls to get there for swimming lessons (the girl’s lessons, not Shawn’s), when my phone rings:

Me (I already know it’s Shawn): “Yeah.”

Shawn (already sounding frantic): “I’m gonna need you to come get us! My car broke down. It’s dead! I opened the hood and oil was spilling everywhere!”

Me (clearly annoyed and not at all shocked): “Ok, where are you?”

Shawn: “On Blah-blah-blah Road, right down from the school!”

Me: “You mean like 30 seconds from where I am?”

Shawn: “Yes!”

Me (seriously wondering why they can’t just walk their happy asses over here): “Ok, I’ll be right there. Is the car off the road?”

Shawn: “No, but I’m going to try to push it off the road further.”

So, I drive all of 30 seconds (ok, maybe it was a minute) over there, only to find that he has nearly pushed the car into the ditch and my children look like they’ve been crying.

Me: “Sweet. You almost pushed the car into the ditch with my children in it.”

Shawn: “Well, I didn’t mean to!”

(no shit?)

Shawn: “Alivia started crying when the car stopped running.”

Me: “Gee, I wonder why? You act like this is the end of the world! It’s not that big of a deal…I was only a minute away, we won’t be late for swimming lessons, and you don’t even have to work tomorrow, so you don’t need your car.”

Shawn: “This is the worst day of my life!!”

Wait a minute. What? Did he just say that out loud? This is the worst day of his life? Ok, 10 years ago his first wife cheated on him with their friend, who incidentally was also his co-worker (because he got him a job there!)…but today is the worst day of his life? Seriously? Seriously.

If he thinks this is bad, wait until tomorrow when the mechanic tells him it’s going to cost him a thousand dollars to fix his car that is worth a dollar. I’m just sayin.

Poor Shawn. Shawn is priceless. First the dancing moves at the wedding and now this. Maybe mulching the yard will take his mind off of the car.

I find it so incredibly amusing that you are calling a man a drama queen. (Even though, CLEARLY, he is!) ;)

Okay I love this. I was laughing outloud and TJ goes "what"? I tell him the story and he doesn't think it is as amusing as me because he would act the exact SAME way!

Oh no, not the bad-ass Stat-ass!?!?! I hope Shawn is able to sleep tonight having had such a horrible day.

I did think it was slightly funny that he pushed the car into the ditch with two crying children in it. What do you think people driving by must have thought?

Oh my word, that last comment about it being the worst day of his life is such a Drama Queen statement!

Chris isn't a drama queen per se, but he goes bonkers when something happens with the car. One time he called me at work, frantic because he had a flat tire and didn't know what to do {he was actually on the way to the tire store to buy a new spare, because the old one was junk}. He was just down the road from our house, but wanted me to stop what I was doing to go online at work and find our insurance company's number so that he could call for assistance. I grumbled and complained but eventually was looking online. I made the side comment of, "Man - I can't believe that they didn't have the number listed on the insurance info in the car!" Chris was silent, then said, "Uh, I'll call you right back". Men!

Incidentally - I did not know that Shawn's first wife cheated on him with his co-worker/friend! That's awful, but good in an odd way because it meant that you two were able to marry and have a family (and he got a much better wife)!

This is so funny ... I love the last part, with the worst day of his life comment.

I'm glad my hubby doesn't freak out about stuff ... I do plenty of that for the both of us.

He really is dramatic.

I had to laugh out loud at his reaction! Poor guy...

I can't dog on him too much b/c I tend to panic in weird situations. LOL

Poor, poor Shawn. If he thinks that's the worst day of his life, he is welcome to come spend a day in my shoes.

;-)

After 10 minutes with my kids after camp lets out, he'll be ready to return to that ditch and he'll be GLAD.

Oh my gosh, I would have made him walk. Men are such babies!!

My husband overreacts like that too. Why do they do that???

I have no patience for it either. When he is going crazy for no reason I just want to hit him over the head with something hard.

This is why men don't get pregnant and endure labor. It would literally KILL them.
