It’s a hard knock life, not.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much the girls loved seeing Annie!  The show was on Friday evening, and I didn’t tell them about it until that afternoon.  When I first told them, they looked sort of confused.  They kept asking “You mean like Annie and the orphanage?”  When they finally realized what it was all about, they proceeded to serenade me with their rendition of “It’s a hard knock life…” for at least an hour.

Before the show we ate dinner at Ruby Tuesday, which I haven’t been to in forever!  I had the Asian Glazed Salmon, and my Mom had some sort of a chicken thingamajig.  It was all delicious!  We also had a coupon for buy one dinner get one free, so you can’t beat that!

Here is Lainey at dinner:

We also made an interesting discovery at dinner:

Stop the presses people, because Alivia finally has a loose tooth!  Yes, for reals this time!

I would have taken more pictures at dinner, but my Mom yelled at me.  Apparently, she does not appreciate the fine art of picture documentation for blogging!  Ugh.  After dinner, we shopped around Meijer for a little while.  Meijer is not exactly my idea of shopping, but it is for my Mom since she claims to “not get out much.”  She did find some cute shoes though, and a birthday present for Lainey.

We finally made our way to the theatre, and were delighted to find that our seats were in the second row!  Not only were they in the second row, but they were right in the middle too, it was perfect!

When we sat down it was about 20 minutes until the show started, and while we were sitting there Lainey started freaking out!  She kept saying she was going to be scared, and that Miss Hannigan was scary, and that it was going to be loud, and it was going to be dark, and blah blah blah…  My Mom kept looking at me like “Oh shit.”

Luckily, she was perfectly fine once the show started.  The only problem was, she was so excited that she kept talking, really loudly!  I couldn’t take any pictures during the show, but I did snap a few before and one at the very end.

DSC_0365 (I’m not sure why, but sometimes Alivia does this creepy smile!  I call it the “serial killer” smile, and Shawn calls it the “I’m going to drown a cat someday” smile.  Either way, it’s creepy!)

The girls with my Mom:

This was the whole cast singing “Tomorrow” at the very end of the show.  Behind Annie, is the lady who played Miss Hannigan.  To the left of Miss Hannigan are Grace and Daddy Warbucks.

And my favorite picture of all:

We all had the best time ever, and I’m so glad we went!  I think this is something the girls will remember for a long time.

Looks like fun! I sing "It's A Hard Knock Life" to my kids all the time when they're complaining about doing chores.

I've got to tell my daughter about the "serial killer smile". I have a granddaughter who has the same bad habit. And you have found the perfect description for it!

They really will remember it forever! For not being able to take photos during the show, you sure got some great ones!

And perhaps that "I am going to drown a cat smile" will pan out well for you, being that you are not a fan of the cat? tee hee. ;-)

How fun! I would love to see Annie...one of my favorites growing up! My daughter probably would have reacted the same way. She gave us a scare while waiting to see Beauty and the Beast. Once the show started, she was fine.

Mothers will never understand the photo documentation we need!

Her smile looks more like 'I just pooped in my pants and I don't know what to do'

That's so weird, I just read my trivia calendar and the question was about Annie.

Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you, because I freakin LOVE "Annie"! So glad you had a wonderful time!

And I totally get yelled at by my friends for taking pics for the blog. Everytime I bust my camera out, I get the whole "Is this going to be on the blog?" Ugh.

I took my Jenna when she was younger and loved it. Both girls use to plot against me when I would make them clean their room and they would tell me they were sending me to the dungeon w/ Ms. Hannigan.

Gabe has a creepy smile he does too. I'm all "dude! use your eyes!", but he doesn't listen. Whatever. He's a guy.

You all sure are some pretty people. Your girls are cuties!

What a great night.

I was in the Stage Door Theater rendition of "Annie" WAY BACK WHEN, and I've always loved the show/movie/music. I can't wait until Clare and I are able to have special nights like that.

I concur with the "drowning the cat someday" smile. <-- That's it.

Oh how fun! I love all the pictures! Even the serial killer one, but especially the one with Annie! You should frame that for their room!

Your girls are so adorable. My son does that creepy smile sometimes too. I wish I knew why! I always say it is the "stop taking pictures of me or I will kill you" smile. That picture with Annie is so cute!!!
