Feel Good Friday: Door #3.

Let’s see.  Where were we?  Oh, that’s right.  Door #3!  So, there I was on Tuesday evening driving home from work when my cell phone rings.  It was Shawn.

Me:  “Hello?”

Shawn:  “Holy Shit.  Holy Shit.  Hooooo-lllllllllly SHIT.”

Me:  “What?!”

Shawn:  “Holy Shit.”

Me:  “A few more details would be nice.”

At this point, I honestly don’t know what to think.  I mean, he’s basically speechless, so this is either really good or really bad.  For a brief second, something crossed my mind and I thought “OMG!  My prayers have been answered!”  Wrong.

Shawn:  “You know those cabinets hanging above the computer?”

Me:  “Yeah, I know the cabinets.”

Shawn:  “Well, one of them isn’t there anymore.”

Me:  “What the?!”

Shawn:  “It fell off the wall.”

Me:  “I blame the installer.” (him)

Sigh.  I could not believe this happened.  The cabinet was directly above the computer monitor.  And when I say cabinet, I mean cabinet, I don’t mean a book shelf, I mean a cabinet!  See for yourself:

That’s the cabinet on the right side, the one that is still attached to the wall (for now).  It doesn’t look too full, does it?  I mean, they are designed for “storage,” right?  I don’t remember seeing a weight limit anywhere!

Now, here is the cabinet from the left side, exactly how Shawn found it when he came home:

And here’s where it used to be:

Directly above the computer!

This is all that’s left now:

So Sad.

This post today is linked to Feel Good Friday, and you might be saying to yourself “Wha Wha WHAT?”  Yes, my office is now a total disaster, and yes, it was most likely brought on by us.  However, there are some things to feel good about.  Most importantly, the computer somehow survived, even though I have no idea how.  It’s a miracle!  My camera which was spewed out of the cabinet, also survived, phew!  And the cabinet?  The cabinet is amazingly completely intact.  So, those are all things to feel good about!  Not to mention, we learned something from this:

1.  Stop hoarding!

2.  IKEA furniture is as tough as nails!

Oddly enough, when I told Shawn how amazed I was that the desk and cabinet were still in good shape, he said “Well, maybe it didn’t fall hard.  It might have fallen slowly.”  Um, yeah.  Is it possible for a cabinet to fall off a wall in slow motion?

LOL LOL LOL and that last paragraph isn't that kind of like the "if the tree falls in the woods and no one is there does it still make a sound" question. Ha!! So glad that the computer, camera, and cabinet all survived!! Happy Friday!!!

I am totally transfixed on how beautiful your computer is! I have an old, crappy one....

I have never bought anything from Ikea before and you have just talked me into stopping by and checking out the store. I can use some tough as nails furniture/fixtures in my house!

This is a VERY sad picture. This story reminds me of when my Adrian Peterson picture fell off the wall in the middle of the night, scaring the shit out of me and prompting Patrick to leap out of bed like a ninja to defend me. I can't imagine the noise that mother made hitting the ground. *shudder*

So glad that everything survived, that looks amazing!

I'm with Shawn, maybe it did fall slowly. Oh wait, that makes absolutely zero sense.

So is there repairing on the agenda for the weekend?

Holy crap! Thank God it didnt fall on the computer. But I hafta agree with ya...if there is no weight limit how could it be your fault? Faulty cabinet perhaps?

Wow! This reminds me of when my desk actually broke down under the pressure.

I am so glad your computer and camera and cabinet survived but Shawn is hilarious, maybe not at the time, but now as you have sat down and written this. You have put a huge smile on my face and made me reconsider the cabinets I had talked to my husband about putting above my desk :)

I have a couple more reasons why this FGF should make you smile... 1. you were not sitting under the cabinet when it fell and 2. neither was Shawn!

Oh no! I'm glad your computer survived. Yard sale perhaps?

OMG I had the same thought- maybe it just sort of ROLLED off the wall and that's why it didn't break and nothing was ruined. You still don't have me convinced you're a hoarder, though.

Visiting you back from FGF...the cabinet falling "slowly"...that cracks me up...because that would make that big of a difference! HAHA! I'm glad everything is pretty much OK...with the exception of your wall, which can easily be fixed! That's definitely something to feel good about! :)

I just love Shawn. "Falling slowly" That is funny!

How in the world did your computer stay in tact. YAY!

Tyler assumes everything is going to fall here so everything and I mean everything has a TON of extra L brackets on it. The worst part about that is when I decide to rearrange. We have screw holes all over!
