First Day of School! First Day of School!

Ok, ok, I admit it.  Today was not my kids first day of school.  They went back last Tuesday, but the public schools in Michigan started today, so this post is somewhat legit.

Getting ready to leave…Alivia wouldn’t smile and Lainey had been crying because Alivia had socked her (or something):

Heading into school:

(I took a picture of them in front of the school too, but I’m not posting it because of potential internet creepers!)

We walked Alivia to her classroom first, here she is at her desk:

Her best buddy, Emma, was already there waiting for her:

This was actually the second day of school, but a couple people have asked me about Alivia’s actual uniform, so this is it:

DSC_0112

She has plaid jumpers, skorts, and pants for the winter.  The girls in 1st-5th grade have to wear the plaid, and junior high girls can wear navy pants.  The shirts have to be either white or light blue.  For the first and last months of school the elementary girls can also wear navy skorts or shorts if they choose to.

Oh, and I also got a question about why Lainey doesn’t wear a uniform.  The only requirement for the Kindergartners is that they can’t wear jeans, other than that almost anything goes.

Since today was the first day of school for public schools, it was the first day for Lainey (and Alivia) to ride the bus.  They get on the bus at daycare, ride that bus to a public elementary school, and then transfer to another bus to go to their school.  I was SO nervous when Alivia had to do this in Kindergarten, so I’m glad Alivia is there now to help Lainey!

Waiting for the bus to get there:

Bye girls!

I just realized I never posted about something else, which you may have noticed in these pictures…

The girls got their hair cut!

Here is the best before picture I could find:

I just love the way her hair turned out, and it’s so easy for me to do!  Lainey’s only complaint is that everyone keeps asking her if she got a perm!  The answer is NO!

Alivia’s is so cute too!  She got some layers cut into it, and it is also angled longer in the front.  I promised her she could grow her bangs out after school pictures, so we’ll see how that goes!

Sorry this post got so long, but I hope you enjoyed all the pictures.  Hopefully your kids (and all the teachers out there!) had a great first day/week of school too!

Oh my gosh - SO much to say about this epic post! First of all, their hair is ADORABLE! I love the new cuts. And I simply love that they wear uniforms - I am a huge fan of school uniforms for so many reasons. I hope they had a wonderful first few days back!

And I hate to ruin this comment with an explanation of a vampire baby - but I was suffering from major cramps, and I compared the pain to the birth scene in Breaking Dawn (the last Twilight) where Bella (SPOILER ALERT) delivers her half-vampire baby. And because vampires are violent, well, it punches its way out of the uterus.

Don't worry - the baby turns out to be adorable, albeit thirsty for blood...

I loved this post :-) Back to school pictures are so cute and their hair turned out great! I love the uniform, too. I think it's great that they let them eventually wear pants and that they can wear skorts. I went to one where you were only allowed to wear skirts or dresses that hit at the knee, or culottes on specific occasions. Very restricting. Glad I eventually switched schools!

I was wondering about the perm too...did she always have the curl?

I love your daughter's pose with her uniform on...she's working it already! Are those little high heeled shoes or is the picture deceiving?

I need to see a larger picture of the shoes Alivia is wearing in her uniform pic. They look adorable and I need to see them better to make a definite opinion. Can you do that for me?????

Please????????????

Okay, but really, do your kids HAVE to be that cute? It seems like is a little unfair to all the other kids.

It always amazes me that all summer my hair can do what it wants and I dont' care. I go days without washing it and I'm fine. I'm back to school for 2 days and i realize I have to get it cut. It's just yucky. And why do I forget every year just how TIRED from the first few days of school? I just talk myself to death these first weeks and I always think I have some disease because I get so TIRED!!

Love the new haircuts. I should've thought of waiting til after pictures to let my daughter grow her bangs out... they are so in her eyes right now. I'm thinking I should cut them again before picture day gets here (she'll probably be so mad at me). :p

Oh my gosh, I freaking love their hair! I just posted this week about how I love mine being that short, but I've let it grow out so much that I'm going to hang in there and see if I like long better.

I don't think it will work. I love, love, love short hair! Cute, girls!
