An Impromptu Giveaway, and one lie revealed!

Ok, I’m going to start with the lie.  Just because I can.  I think a few of you might have confused my last post with the “4 lies and 1 truth” thing that frequently makes rounds on the blogosphere.  In the post I did, 4 of the things were somewhat true, and 1 was 100% true.  I blame myself for confusing you since I titled the post “Liar, Liar…”

Anyway.  In this post I’ll address the rodeo clown since many of you found that quite interesting.  This one is not 100% true.  I did date a rodeo clown, but it was not by any means a serious relationship.  In fact, now that I think about it, I wouldn’t even call it “dating”…if I remember correctly, he never did actually take me on a date.

So, how in fact did I end up dating (or not dating) someone who looked like this?

20060822190727_clown

Well.  Blame it on spring break.  And alcohol.  And the fact that when I met him (in a bar) he told me he was a “barrel man / bull fighter.”  It wasn’t until he showed me a video of him in clown get-up shooting his Jack Russell Terrier out of a cannon, that I realized what I’d gotten myself into.

Let’s never talk about this whole clown thing again?  MmmKay?  Onto the Giveaway!!

cookie_boxes

I realized that last year at this time I did a Girl Scout Cookie giveaway, and I totally forgot to do one this year!  Don’t worry, it’s not too late!  Alivia has to turn her order sheet in on Friday, so the giveway will run from now until this Thursday night at 8 pm.  The winner will win 3 boxes of their choice of Girl Scout Cookies!!  Please click here to see your choices, not all Girl Scouts sell the same cookies!

The rules are simple:

  • Mandatory entry:  You have to be a follower and you have to leave me a comment saying which 3 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies you would like if you win (leave 1 comment for this 1 entry).
  • Optional entry:  Leave a comment telling me about the worst or most embarrassing person you dated (leave 1 comment for this 1 entry).
  • Bonus entry:  If you were a Girl Scout send me a picture of you as a Girl Scout which I can post the day I announce the winner of this giveaway!  You will get 5 entries for this, but just leave one comment saying you’re sending me a picture and I will add the other 4 entries.

Good Luck everyone!

P.S.  This giveaway is in no way sponsored by the Girl Scouts.  It is completely funded by me, out of the goodness of my heart, and for the love of cookies!

years ago, I went on a blind date (that should have been a sign) with a guy who looked like he had just stepped out of the 80's movie Revenge of the Nerds. Now being geeky wasn't THAT terrible, he could have had some potential, but it was the nose picking and booger flicking that I couldn't stand lol...

Okay I think I might one up you on the weirdes guy I've ever gone on a date with. So I worked at a call center and he always sat next to me and would stare at me. So one weekend I needed somebody to take my shift and I asked him and was like "thank you so much! If there is anything I can ever do for you..." and he was like "actually could you go on a date with me this weekend?" And I'm like "well I asked you to work for me cause I have family coming in to town." So then he asked me out for the next weekend. He took me to dinner and then to play video games at his house (yuck). The next week I read in the newspaper that he was the reigning Guiness World Record Holder for beating the Mario Brothers Video game in the fastest time. Plus he was like a foot shorter than I am.

3 (more) boxes of Samoas please, and duh I am like your ultimate follower.

Okay, so it was a blind date I was set up on by a co-worker at (cringe) Radio Shack. The entire date the guy talked about the actual event of his dog dying (he mentioned jowls more than once, no joke) and then talked about his mom who is a "bi-amputee". Oh, and did I mention he took me to Fazoli's? Ugh.

I can not eat just one Tag a Long. It is next to impossible not to eat the entire box at once. I would love three boxes!

And some Tag A Longs for good measure.

You know I'm a follower. I want 3 boxes of Thin Mints, please and thank you.

The most embarrassing guy I ever dated was in high school. He was a year younger than me (major deal in high school, right?) and when we went on a date he spilled all over himself. I broke up with him not long after. Turns out, he went to Georgetown, played football in NFL Europe and is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. Apparently, I do not know how to pick out the diamond in the rough! :)

The most embarrassing person I ever dated???? It's like Lays I can't chose just one (but I'll try).

How 'bout the Orkin man?

The guy who told me he played for the Pirates but was really a homeless bum?

The guy with a steel plate in his head?

The drug addict who lived with his mother?

You can see why The TO looked like a fabulous option at the time, can't you?

I once went on a date with a guy before who told me ALL about this ex girlfriend. He wouldn't stop talking about her, like seriously. He told me that she was a stripper and that is how they met!

Craziness.

MMM, GS cookies! My faves are thin mints, peanut butter patties, and the caramel delites :-)

And as for the most embarrassing guy that I dated? Well, I didn't date a whole lot, but it would probably be a guy who was so incredibly in debt, but kept spending money on me and then had even bought an engagement ring for me... which I found out when I broke up with him. Yikes. My mind was nowhere near wedding bells, but apparently his was!

Claire said...

Mmmmmmm, I've never had American Girl Guide Cookies! I don't even know what flavors they come in, although I love mint and vanilla, I'll leave the rest up to you! Waaaaaiiiiit a minute - I see something about peanut butter on one of the boxes - oh, yeah baby - I'll take those, too! And, no vanilla? Lemon will do!!

Okay, I dated this creepy guy with white blond hair, sideburns down to his chin, and about 6 ft. 8 ", and 110 lbs. soaking wet. Wow, yep, he was a sight. In his defense, he really was a sweet guy, and yes I am so shallow for dumping him, but really....nope, nothing to say in my defense... and my family and friends didn't know about him. Wonder why?

JoAnna said...

You will be sending me 3 boxes of Thin Mints because no other cookie is worth the time it takes to savor and enjoy Thin Mints.

I never was a Girl Scout but I wanted to be. Does that count? I would have LOVED Girl Scouts. Instead, i have to live vicariously through all my friends who were Girl Scouts and their mad cap camping adventures. They all had boys, so they only scouting they will do will be Boy Scouts and that's not the same thing. Sometimes I think I should just make myself a sit upon and go sit out in the woods to pretend I'm a Girl Scout.

JoAnna said...

I never actually went on a date with this boy, but we talked about "going out". Remember when "going out" didn't mean going on dates, it just meant causing an uproar among friends because he just "asked you out"? He was 2 years younger and I thought he was really cute. In a badass way. And he was short, but so was I, so thought that was even cuter. And he loved this belt I had. We never made it past phone calls.

Good thing because today, I think he probably had designs on stealing that belt and selling it for drugs. He's been in so much trouble. He still lives around here. He doesn't have a car and we dont' live in a place with public transportation. And the worst part, is he has a son who I will very likely teach in a couple of years. Oh and he's so not cute anymore. SO.NOT.CUTE. The MAN upstairs really knew what he was doing, not letting us ever get together outside of school!!

Don't forget to send me my Thin Mints, please!

Mmmmm, I love me some Girl Scout cookies!!!! Tagalongs, Samoas, and Thin Mints - FOR SURE!

I never actually agreed to date this guy, but when I was a Sophomore in High School there was a kid who was super obsessed with me that would walk me to my dad's truck after school every day... He was "supposedly" in 10th grade, but he was definitely almost old enough to buy alcohol, and constantly wreaked of cigarettes. I have no idea why I didn't kick that kid to the curb after the first day he walked with me! He was probably on his 3rd attempt at 10th grade!!!

Amy Lynn said...

OMG, I was a Girl Scout for 10 years!!! Super embarassing to be a Girl Scout in High School... especially when selling cookies!!!! I'm going to search high and low and see if I can find a picture. Sadly, when I moved out of my dad's house most of my childhood memories got left behind :( If I can find one somewhere, I'm totally sending it over!!!

Bahahaha! I love the rodeo clown story. I went on a date once with a guy that had named all his body parts - and I mean everything, his hands, his bicepts, his calves, his "other" parts. Of course, I did not know this before going on the date and was thoroughly confused about who all these people were that he was talking about. Seriously weird. The only redeeming part of this story is that he was so unbelieveably gorgeous (as were all those body parts). I was almost willing to overlook the weirdness, just to stare at him all night.

Oh, and I dated a carnie.

Well, I dated him the same way you dated the rodeo clown. We made out a few times and he let me go on all the rides for free.

I love your blog - almost as much as I love the fact that my 2 year old niece was playing with a measuring tape this afternoon and proudly announced to the family that my ass is $25!

3 boxes of thin mints please!

Okay, in 7th grade there was a boy, Dan, who had a huge crush on me. I was horrible. Even though I knew he didn't have a lot of money I would ask him for his lunch money so I could buy a drumstick. I was 11 and apparently soulless! Anyfart, he wrote me a poem that read:

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
you are as sweet,
as chocolate chip cookies.

Yikes. Later on in high school there was a rumor going around that his family was big into in-breeding. Never confirmed it, but come on....clearly "sweet" does NOT rhyme with "cookies."

Thin Mints. All three boxes.

So, my first "serious" boyfriend was psychotic. Very, very possessive. What was worse was his mother. He didn't like me having guy friends. Neither did his mom. So I went bowling one day with a family friend, and not only did he hunt me down and find out where I was, his mother came with him, and they both started berating me at the bowling alley in front of everyone. The mom grabbed all my crap and literally forced me to go with them, and screamed at me all the way home about how I was ruining her son's life, I was cheating on him, and look at how hurt he was (he was bawling; carrying on like I had murdered his cat), I was a slut, etc. etc. I was only 15 at the time. It was awesome. That's my worst boyfriend story.

No pix of my girl scout uniform. But I did get a full Brownie uniform for my 7th birthday. It was hot.
