Yes, this is a weird title, but just stay with me and let me explain.
Let me start off by saying I have never been overweight. However, a little over a year ago we bought a Wii and then also bought the Wii Fit. When you start the Wii Fit you put in all your vital statistics, such as age, height, and sex. My answers were 28, 5’5”, and yes. You then stand on the stupid board and it spins an alien looking body around on the TV screen, and very scientifically up comes your BMI.
Well, the results were in… It said my BMI was 25.0, and it also said “overweight.” WHAT? LIAR!
Okay, so I was only overweight by 0.1 because 24.9 is normal weight, but still. How did this happen? One reason is due to the Lyrica I was on for Shingles, but that is a sucky excuse in my book. I was truly a lazy, ice cream eating, non exercising bum.
So, what did I do? Honestly, for awhile I did nothing. Then, last September Alivia started kindergarten and Lainey and I needed something to do from 8:45-noon, so we joined the Y. However, I was only exercising by default, because I had nothing better to do. Yeah, the weight just melted away…not!
But then, a lovely, yet horrible thing happened. In November I turned 29 and Shawn threw me a surprise party. Here is one of the pictures…
After seeing the photos from the party (and stabbing my husband for throwing a party for me), I made it my goal to lose 30 pounds by my 30th birthday.
So, how’s that working for me?
The photo above actually happens to be at the same restaurant, and how weird is it that I’m wearing orange again? Anyway, I’ve lost 26 pounds.
I now have a little less than 2 months until my birthday, and I hate to be a downer, but I don’t think I can reach the goal. I’m going to try really hard though, and that brings us to the title…
Why is it that unless you’re grossly obese, people aren’t supportive of you losing weight? If I tell anyone I still have 4 more pounds to lose they look at me like I just said, “I’m only drinking water and Ex-lax until I reach my goal.”
I don’t get it.

LOL...too funny. Actually, a couple of girls and I were talking about something similar today. I truly believe that all women are in part a little insecure - and if they are of average weight, they automatically think that every average weight person is skinner than they are. Thus, they think you are a skinny bitch for saying you want to lose weight almost if you were saying it to an obese person. Keep on fighting the fight. You look amazing but if you want to lose 4 more - keep fighting the good fight. Lots of lean protein will help :) Or, ex-lax...either way...
LOL!! this cracked me up, tami! i support you...even though i hate you! j/k... hehehe! i've always been way heavier than you... but now, i'm okay with it! :) we're both HOT! :) lol! i think you'll make you're goal (without the ex-lax!!) :)
For the record, you looked great in the "before" picture. However, with that said, I think that women tend to forget that it's an individual account. You don't want to lose the weight in comparison to someone else. What I think is a good look/weight for you has nothing to do with what makes you happiest. And, in the end, that's what matters. But, like Elizabeth, I hate you too!
You look amazing! I love your hair by the way.
I agree about the whole weight issue. After Shawn died, I lost 40 pounds in 4 months. Since then I've gained most of it back. However, I'v also started going to the gym like a crazy person. I have found that I love working out again. Therefore most of the weight I have gained is muscle. I'm actually at a healthier weight now than what I was when I was super skinny. I love that I'm starting to see the muscle in my arms and legs once again.
However, I too think I need to lose just about 10 pounds. My birthday 32nd is in Novemeber, wonder if I can do that my then? Have to see.
First of all you are practically anorexic! Second, you wear a size 0! Third, Wii Fit is on Crack!!!
Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing! It's obviously working. If you feel like you're plateauing change up your diet and/or workout to "shock" your body. Works for me every time. You can totally lose the last 4 pounds in two months! (No ex-lax needed!)
Okay, so how is it that some of you are hating? Elizabeth, Heidi, and Amber? Isn't that what my blog was about was to quit hating on the fat skinny girls? Just jokers...
I have heard so many good things about the Love Dare. I need to pick it up for Zane and I.
You look awesome!! I would love to lose some weight. I am going to try and start working out next week. I think it will help with the stress too!!!
