Whoa. Long time, no blog! Sorry about that. Would you hate it if I was all, I haven’t written since Friday, but nothing has even been going on? Like, I’ve just been sitting here eating Oreos and working on my tan, and I have nothing to report on? That would suck. What really sucks is that I’ve gotten a few shout outs from other bloggers like The Girl Next Door and Tyly, but if anyone clicks over here they probably think I never write! I do, I do, pinky swear! Patience grasshoppers.
Ok well, lucky you I have had stuff going on, so listen up! (I have been eating Oreos and working on my tan too though.) First, on Friday afternoon we set out to get Shawn a car. We actually found the one we wanted on Thursday night, and after a lot of back and forth phone calls, 2 bags of popcorn, and driving around to 4 other dealerships…we finally bought it on Friday afternoon. Behold Shawn’s new bitch:
It’s a 2009 Nissan Altima. You like? Don’t worry, I told him if he trashes this one like he did the Stratus that I will stab him in the jaw. That’s a promise people.
I hate to say this, but I honestly can’t even remember what we did on Saturday. It must have been exciting. Wait a minute, I’ve got it! Being the domestic goddess (and soon to be iron goddess) that I am, I did a lot of cooking and cleaning for our Father’s Day get together on Sunday. All of that is quite boring except this:
That deliciousness is an Oreo and fudge ice cream cake. Yum. It’s so easy to make, but looks like you’ve slaved for hours! You can find the recipe I used here. I did make mine in a 9 x 13 pan, but everything else was the same.
On Sunday we went to church and then had my family over for Father’s Day. Here are a few pictures from Sunday:
My nephew Alex, I believe that’s ice cream cake on his mouth!
My Grandpa with my nephew, Ryan:
Grandpa with a few of the great-granddaughters…Alivia, Natalie, and Lainey:
Sunday was also my sister’s birthday. She told me she would kill me if I posted this picture on Facebook, so I thought I’d post it on here instead! Hehehe!
(please note my redneck pool in the background)
This post isn’t over yet, because I actually did something on Monday too! Can you believe it? It’s exciting too! Are you ready? I had my very first blog date! Ya know, like I met another blogger! Yup. I have been following Jen from A Tale of Two Coins since her husband passed away almost 2 years ago. Jen also lives in Michigan, so we met up in Birch Run to go shopping and to lunch. I was actually ridiculously nervous, but I had a great time, and I don’t think Jen thought I was too much of a creeper.

Such a fun weekend! I'm sure your sister will be happy to see that picture posted.
Did you and Jen call each other ahead of time in order to somewhat coordinate outfits? I'm just sayin'
FYI: I'm totally jealous of your redneck pool and I want one :)
That cake looks amazing!! Hillary has a good point, did ya'll plan to coordinate? LOL. Blog dates are the best, it's fun to talk face to face and you already know each other which is weird yet fun!!
I have fond memories playing at my best friends house in one of those hillbilly pools, haha. You and Jen look so cute.
Sounds like a fab weekend - and yay for finding a car! One less thing to worry about :-)
And how funny that you and Jen are all matchy-matchy with your shirts, ha ha! Was that planned, or are you just really on the same brain-wave?
A real, live blogger meet up?! I'd be nervous/excited too!! DId you coordinate the fuschia colored tops too or do great minds just think alike?
How completely fun that you had a meet-up! Birch Run is a great place for it. Girls need to get their shop on!
Your weekend sounds pretty fabulous!
That sounds like a fun weekend. Well, except the car shopping part...we did that too, blech.
But the end result is fun!
Glad your kids will no longer have to be worried about being stranded on the side of the road. I'd hate for Shawn to have a nervous breakdown or something. You also just made me start craving oreos.
Oh! And I absolutely noticed the Redneck pool in the background before you called yourself out.
OMG! Tami!!
I, too, just got a 2009 Altima! And guess what I had before that....
...wait for it....
A freaking Dodge Stratus!
This whole thing is hilarious to me, because about two years ago I decided I HATED the stratus and absolutely did nothing to take care of it. I ran into the ATM and got bright yellow paint all over the front...didn't care.
I attempted to parallel park and broke my tail light...never fixed it.
I TOTALLY relate to Shawn! We're like car twins! SPOOKY!
ohhh a bloggy date!? How exciting!!! I have yet to meet a fellow blogger, but I hope to soon!
How IS the pool going? Was it worth every cent or what?
Do I spy wet soggy kids that have been putting their redneck pool to good use!?!?!?!? Have you been in it yet? lol.... That cake looks SUPER yummy! And Shawns new car is very nice :) I'm sure you won't be embarrassed if you have to take that one to work!
Can't wait to try that cake. I have a few similar recipes, but that one just looks beautiful.
So jealous you all got to meet in real life! I have read Jen's blog for a while now too! Love that you all are so well coordinated - was that planned?? Ha!
Looks like you have been busy!
I drove an ALtima in college----loved it!
I love pink. Did you guys plan to wear pink tanks? omg. too funny!
I've had a few meetups w/ bloggy friends and I'm always nervous. But it has all worked out great!
That cake looks awesome. This is the second post I've read this week where bloggers are meeting up. I think that's so cool!

I have yet to meet a blog friend in real life and I know that I would be SO nervous... like out of control nervous. I can't even imagine!
That is cute that on your blog date you guys dressed so similar! I love blog friends!
I really hope Shawn keeps the car up...dun dun dun! I'll stay tuned for that one :)
I want that ice cream cake in my belly ASAP! :)
Did you plan to wear the same color. There are so many bloggers I hope to one day meet in real life!!
I want to make that yummy cake . . sure does look like it took you hours to make!
